The unique publishing opportunities offered by the organization, exposure to thousands of writing pieces and styles, and student-led educational classes and clubs have greatly impacted surrounding communities. uScribe has taught students writing skills not offered in educational programs, English classes, and affiliated clubs throughout Arcadia and real-world writing applications.
The uScribe Initiative
The uScribe Initiative is a program that works year round with middle school and high school students in Arcadia, San Marino, and Temple City. Due to text messaging and online chatting abbreviations, many young students are losing the ability to write properly. This is a huge disadvantage for them because writing constitutes a huge part of what college you get into and furthermore what jobs you may achieve. This is why writing is so important and also why uScribe is implementing the online magazine and publishing Initiative. The goal is to ultimately inspire students to write more and introduce new styles of more effective learning and absorbing. In order to give students an incentive to write, the top couple essays that were written during each session are posted on our website (www.uscribe.net) which is viewed by tens of thousands of visitors every month. The uScribe Initiative is trying to build a solid foundation of writers for the future and make a lasting impact on the future generation.
uScribe was founded in 2010, spreading writing ideas and forming informal writing clubs in Arcadia. Incorporated in 2012 and approved as a non-profit organization in 2013, the company has grown exponentially, impacting over a thousand students in strengthening writing skills, and reaching thousands of writers and peer audiences globally through the website publishing platform. Numerous writing clubs and classes were formed throughout Arcadia. For example, a student-led class was formed in Dana Middle School in 2012 and has run successfully since while classes in Foothills Middle School and First Avenue Middle School are in the process of forming. uScribe has received great support from educational supporters, teachers, school faculty, principals, and educational corporations throughout Southern California and the nation. We believe that we can offer unique education opportunities to the students of Arcadia High School and strengthen the overall writing confidence and skill of the student communities throughout Arcadia. This club would offer three main components different from any program/class on campus: a global publishing platform for students, student-led writing communities, and exposure to thousands of writing pieces and styles of other students.
