Being responsible, mature, and independent is something that many teenagers lack. Living independently could not be possible if teenagers did not have these qualities. This is because if you were not responsible, you would not know how to take care of your own things such as: the laundry, dishes, and many other household items you must take care of. If you were not mature, you would not be able to live on your own because you wouldn’t care about the responsibilities you have. Finally, living independently means that teenagers themselves have to start relying on themselves to provide needs that others might provide for you right now. Many teenagers these days rely on their parents or family too much which, by the way, causes them to become less independent and decreases their ability to live on their own.
Studies show that when kids become teenagers, they tend to fight with their parents. This is the because of the many emotional changes that happen within a teenagers body during puberty. Researches have found that young people tend to establish their own identity as separate from parents. This often means disobeying parents for a while until they feel secure enough to agree without feeling they have lost their identity or reputation towards others. In addition, teenagers find a need for privacy and personal space from their parents. Young people often share their secrets and innermost thoughts with friends rather then with parents. If teenagers cannot establish their self-control, it is best for them not to be living on their own.
Teenagers these days cannot wait for the day when they can live on their own! But, many young people do not know the responsibility it takes to be living independently. Teenagers out there, if you are self- responsible, mature, and independent, you are just one step closer to be living on your own. Just make sure that you know how to wash dishes, and do the laundry at your folks’ place! If you don’t, it is not recommended to live on your own.
