Video games are much more immersive than Board Games. From sound to the 3D experiences. A Board Game might have an occasional repeated audio track, but video games have full soundtrack, with music, voice acting, and much more. Video games also have foley, from footsteps, to gunshots. Sometimes, the controller will have a rumble feature, which makes the game more realistic. For example, if you are playing Batman Arkham City, and you get hit by a thug, your controller will rumble, to simulate taking a hit, or if you are playing a shooting game, like Call of Duty, when you shoot, there will be a rumble, to simulate shooting a gun. Some gaming consoles, like the oculus rift, puts you in a new world by making anything you see, a video game. Some games even have 3D graphics, making the experience a whole lot cooler. One of the most known consoles to do this is the 3DS. It could make a scary game a whole lot scarier by adding 3D graphics. It could have a zombie jumping through the screen at you! But it’s not only horror games that are doing this, they’re doing it to The Legend Of Zelda, Kid Icarus, and even everybody's favorite, Mario Bros.!
Some games require more activity than Board Games. You can be running around the block in wii fit, to having a gladiator fight with playstation sports. Game are trying to make themselves as realistic as possible, which means they require more activity. The Wii revolves mainly around motion control. You can be swinging swinging a light saber by waving the controller rapidly. The Kinect makes you be the controller with a camera that tracks your movement. The Playstation Move is what you would get if the Wii and the Kinect had a baby, thats if inanimate objects could reproduce.
If you are going on a long vacation, bringing a Board Game may be a fun thing to do with your family. But what about the car ride? Unless you are planning to bring monopoly in the car and having the players slide around, then the gameboy is the way to go. Over 25% of video games are portable. Some prime examples of portable gaming are the Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, DS, 3DS, PSP, PS Vita, Sega Game Gear, and so many more. The Gameboy is like a portable Nintendo Entertainment System. The Gameboy Advance is like a portable Super Nintendo Entertainment System. DS to Wii, PSP to PS3, Sega Game Gear to Sega Genisis, you get the point. I remember countless hours of playing Pokemon on my Gameboy Advance SP when my family went on vacation. Video Games are just more convenient for portable play.
If you still aren’t convinced after all of those reasons, then I don’t know what to say. Video Games are immersive, they require more activity, and they are portable, yet still you want to play a Board Game. But before you go open monopoly, give me one more chance. One more chance to show you what Video Games have in store for you. What if I told you that you could play a Board Game, in a Video Game. Let me guess, you're speechless. You're trying to come up with a good excuse on how Board Games are better than Video Games, but you can’t. What!!!! You’re not. You know what, I’m done, I’m done trying to convince you. If you’re going to play a Board Game, at least make it based off of a Video Game. Can we do that? OK good, we’re done here. Thank you for reading. Your input was extremely valuable. Not.
